November 20 is the day designated to celebrate the little ones and recognise their rights as individuals.

Principal of the educational institute, Gillian Elliot told The VOICE that the teachers planned a special day of fun and treats for the little ones.

A special assembly was held to highlight the importance of the children and to let them know of their value at the school and in life.

Husband and wife duo Sally and KK Elwin who are also both past students treated the children to a number of uplifting songs whilst serving another purpose of incorporating the day’s celebration with Feast of Musicians, St. Cecilia’s Day which is today.

A number of special poems and words of encouragement were also spoken to the children.

Students were made to feel comfortable after being allowed to dress out of school uniforms for free.

However, the highlight of their day was the ice cream served to the youngsters.

Elliot said; “Usually on Valentine’s Day we treat them but we decided that in all fairness to them, we need to observe Children’s Day to make them aware of it and to make them feel special.

She added; “I think this helps them to realise that whilst they are at school and sometimes we have to be really firm with them, we also do love and care for them and it helps to build their confidence not only in themselves but also in school”.
